May 1, 2024—Shermann “Dilla” Thomas will inaugurate the June 12 SuperCrowdChicago, a one-of-a-kind conference for investors and entrepreneurs. This event stands out for its focus on the latest investing and capital-raising strategies, signed into law by President Obama.

“Much of the $2 billion raised under Regulation Crowdfunding, authorized by the Obama-era JOBS Act,  has gone to women and minorities,” says The Super Crowd, Inc., CEO Devin Thorpe, who hosts SuperCrowdChicago. “We’re thrilled to have the dopest historian in Chicago kick off the program in the morning. Our VIP ticket holders will even get a dinner bus tour of Chicago’s Black History with Dilla following the conference.”

“I’m excited to have the SuperCrowd community come to Chicago to see and celebrate the city’s dope and diverse history,” Thomas says. “As we come together to deliberately consider opportunities to support and invest in traditionally underserved communities, we’ll unleash the power of more great entrepreneurs, making Chicago even better.”

SuperCrowdChicago will be held at Columbia College Chicago on June 12 from 9:00 to 5:00 with the VIP bus tour following that evening. Nationally recognized experts, including visitors and locals, will provide insights for both investors and small business owners. Under the new regulated investment crowdfunding rules, everyone is eligible to invest. Entrepreneurs who may not be able to qualify for a bank loan or raise venture capital may be able to use crowdfunding to raise capital for their businesses.

Other speakers at the conference will include Dorian Dickinson, CEO of FundingHope; Florence Hardy, president of the Flow Firm; Chris Miller, Chair of the National Coalition for Community Capital; Brian Christie, President of the Crowdfunding Professional Association and Bill Huston, CEO of Crowd-Max.

The Super Crowd, Inc., a public benefit corporation led by CEO Devin Thorpe, hosts virtual and in-person events scattered across the country to support social entrepreneurs, diverse founders and community builders. Part of that support comes from helping ordinary people learn to invest like angel investors with a focus on impact. The company also produces the Superpowers for Good streaming television show that frequently features people from the impact crowdfunding community. Learn more at https://TheSuperCrowd.com.
